Quality of Life in our Community
As a Community Economic Development Organization assisting minorities, youth, senior citizens, disabled and disadvantaged persons, to include military and veterans in making better life choices, including but not limited to education, health and wellness, and social enhancement, we offer individual recognition to those in the community. Believing in the American Dream of owning the assets in which we live in, work in, and do business in and with our very own Event Center we host ongoing programs, events, activities, and productions for quality of life where we aim towards community involvement for “with our talents, we can all succeed.” Our annual workshops: Visual Art, Live Performing Art, Production Overview, Finance, Art Design, and Stew and Renew Yoga Workshops, opened to the public has touched the lives of many that have shown interest and we have showcased their artistic talents of recording artists and unsung artists in the local and surrounding communities. In collaboration with other non-profit and for-profit businesses and organizations, the emerging unsung artists have gained experiences in performance and production, alone with an in-depth integration of singing, stage movement, and character development. We present one full production each year, youth trip and Black-Tie Dinner and Dance. The Youth Trip to Beech Bend Park and Splash Lagoon, has shown youth in the community a quality of life and as a token of our appreciation for their hard work and dedication throughout the school year which they look forward to each year, the numbers increased from eight to 60. The Black-Tie Dinner and Dance, honors community seniors 65 plus (Dancing under the Roses), for their service to the community, for paving the way for generations to come for all to embrace, has also been a great success. Seniors enjoy a sit-down meal, dancing, hotel stay and transportation to and from the venue. This event due to the high demand has resulted in being extended to two nights. It was a joy hearing a 90 plus senior asked to be taken to the dance floor and seeing this vibrant senior enjoy herself while this live professional band brought back the loving memories of her youth to a reality. The band, able to play music in a different language has impacted the Hispanic culture and now it has allowed us to bring more of the Hispanics culture to merge with the African American culture and to reach more people of various cultures in rural areas to diversify in their culture and to build on the asset/address barriers in our community. Public participants responded by saying “We need more of this”, which speaks volume and shows the value of our events and we must be able to give it to them. A senior stated, "I am a senior who has been given the opportunity to sing in the upcoming musical, I am delighted that this organization honors me and other seniors 65 plus. I sincerely believe this organization’s events will greatly benefit my community and the surrounding rural communities.” Many unsung musical artist and musicians now seek us to become a part of this program that holds no boundaries of age or ability. The venue in which we partner with the Manager on an annual basis, was so impressed with the Event Design and Styling workshop that it captured the attention of their staff and guests attending the hotel that they published it on their Facebook page and promoted their venue to where people were calling the hotel Manager requesting the décor, chair covers, and ties believing it came with the hotel. The corporate office was revamping their website and the local hotel utilized our décor to make it the standard for that hotel’s new look on their website. Thanks to the donors that have contributed and continue to support as we “Show Some Love” in making this of many endeavors to happen and being a part of our success.
